Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) and For Your Information (FYI) about Our Helping Hands Ministries (OHHM)

Q-What Church and Denomination are you affiliated with?
A- Our Helping Hands Ministries is not a traditional brick and mortar church.
This is a web-based Christian organization and is not associated with a particular
denomination. We urge all members and associates to find a traditional church
home. We believe in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ the Son of
God Almighty our Father in Heaven. We believe in everyone’s right to choose and
worship according to their faith. Most people Christian commitment and
involvement is primarily Sunday worship and mid-week Bible Study totaling about
3 hours a week. There are 168 hours in a week. What about the other 165 hours?
Most people don’t know the difference between “Church work” and “The Work of
the Church”. Unfortunately, the most emphasis and efforts have been in the area of
Church work. “The Work of the Church” is away from the church structure out
amongst the non-believers. This is where we can have the greatest impact on others
and lead some of these non-believers to Christ. Once again, OHHM is not in
competition with traditional brick and mortar churches, but our desire is to operate
in cooperation with them. OHHM is an ally acting as a connecting organization to
Churches and Houses of Worship listed in our Directory of affiliated Churches
whose leader is a registered OHHM member. We believe that it is very important
that we only list churches whose leader is registered because Unity is vital.

Q- How will OHHM achieve the mission of A Worldwide Ministry with an emphasis on
Living a successful life(balanced spiritually, socially, healthily and financially) and
      Improving family relationships?
A- 1) We have the website OHHM where people can visit and check out our site.
         2) If they register and complete the requirements they will be emailed a membership
             Certification
         3) They tell others about the site who tell others via email, word of mouth etc…
and some of them will visit the site and become members and the cycle continues.
         4) We urge and encourage members:
.1) if you haven’t already- find a church home where these same principles are
taught regarding God’s blessings for you and your family.
              .2) be fully baptized
              .3) practice good stewardship
.4) attend to wise counsel and associations (Life lines! Two accountability
partners -ideally one being your spouse and the other someone of your same
gender-to be a source of inspiration, understanding and encouragement).
Study God’s word-The B.I.B.L.E. (Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth)
-daily and have a self-improvement plan for growth in knowledge,
understanding and wisdom to become a better Christian example
and humble servant to God Almighty and your fellow man.
Always keep in mind 2 Timothy 2:15 "Study to shew thyself approved unto
God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of
truth." It is recommended that you schedule 15 minutes a day(with the best
times being the first 15 minutes upon awakening or the last 15 minutes before
going to sleep at night. We recommend that your self-improvement program
                   include as a minimum:
1 chapter of Psalms (instructions for man’s relationship with God)
1 chapter of Proverbs (instructions for man’s relationship with man).
1 chapter of The Pursuit Success is hidden in the journey by Dexter Yager
Communicate with your accountability partners(Life line!!) monthly, bi-weekly,
weekly, daily or as necessary to help you through some of life’s challenges.
         5) Put your membership certificate in a place where you will see it often such as on
your bedroom mirror or nightstand. This will serve as a daily reminder.

Q- How can I be saved and receive eternal life?
The Sinner’s Prayer (e.g. as an example)

“Dear God my Father in Heaven, I come to you in the name of Jesus. I’m sorry for my sins and right now I repent for my sins and ask you for forgiveness. You said in Your Holy Word: John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. (Romans 10:9)That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart  that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. Right now I confess Jesus Christ as my Lord and I believe in my heart that God raised Him from the dead. I call upon His name. I receive and accept Him as my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. According to His Word, right now I am saved.  Thank you Jesus, for dying for me and giving me eternal life. From now on I want to follow you and your teachings. In the Name of Jesus I pray, Amen!

The Philosophy and Emphasis of OHHM

A Ministry of One (you !!)  To be “A Tongue-tied Christian Example” in your everyday life where as The Tongue of your mouth (what you say) is in harmony with The Tongue of your shoe (what you do).

A Helping Hand.
We believe that most people don’t want a handout but a helping hand. You extend your hand out to shake someone’s hand but the handshake only occurs if they allow you to shake theirs. This is predicated upon them also extending their hand.

Character is the ability or the discipline to follow through with a decision long after the mood or the emotion in which the decision was made has passed.

The true test of someone’s character is not your intentions but your actions. It is revealed by: Who are you when no one is watching? Only you and God know the answer.

The challenge is that most people want the situations or circumstances to change but they are not willing to change their thoughts and actions.

Sow a thought-reap an act

Sow an act- reap a habit

Sow a habit-reap character

Sow a character- reap a destiny

If we want to change the circumstance (harvest that we reap), We must change the seed (change our thinking) which is what we sow. It all begins with what we think!

Proverbs 23:7
For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he……

Philippians 4:8
8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things  are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
Philippians 4:9
9 Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me,  do: and the God of peace shall be with you.

Change requires discipline to develop a new and improved character which once again begins with what we think!

Improving Family Relationships

A key part of this is Prayer. We all have heard the saying “A family that prays together-stays together”.
We look to Luke chapter 15 as an example of a Family Reunion. Reading, studying and meditating on this chapter and its contents allows us to experience the knowledge, understanding and the wisdom within this chapter for the Family. Its contents include God’s recipe for a complete Family Reunion. It combines the 7 F’s (family, faith, fellowship, friends, food in a fun and festive atmosphere) with the 7 R’s(relatives, reach-out, recall, reconcile(with forgiveness being a key component-forgiving the other person and forgiving yourself Matthew 6:14 For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: Matthew 6:15 But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.), rejoice, reminisce and re-union). Also included is the Parable of the Prodigal Son and an often used example for the results of a Family Prayer. Symbolically we have talked about the Prodigal Son where in real life this extends to include any Prodigal relative or Prodigal family member (e.g. son, daughter, brother, sister etc.). When we have the combination of a faith based fellowship with family, friends and food in a fun festival like atmosphere where relatives have reached out , recalled, reconciled, rejoiced, reminisced and reunited at the Family Reunion, that will be the Best Reunion which will lead to The Ultimate Family Reunion with our Father in Heaven.
